3 Steps For Taking the Lead in Your Own Life

Taking the lead in your own life means that you live fully as yourself, set your own path, and create the very things that YOU want for you.

Often we give our power away and let people take the lead in creating our lives for us. We do this by caring about what they think of us. Or comparing ourselves to others. Even by deciding we can’t do something because we hold a belief that was conditioned.

We let our own wants, needs, dreams, and desires fall by the wayside and people please, perform, or contort ourselves to fit into a box of someone else’s expectations.

Here’s three ways to put your power back in your hands and take the lead in creating your own life.

Learn that it’s not personal.

What other people do has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. They have their own perspective, dreams, pain, stories, conditioning, and habits. The way they treat you is a reflection of how they treat themselves and what they believe to be true in their own lives.

Most of the time we construct stories around situations with other people. Maybe we think they don’t like us or that we did something to upset them. We question ourselves, our confidence, ability, and so many other things. We think about what they are thinking and make up outcomes of how things could have been different.

But this is us judging the situation through our own lens. It’s not about them. We are trying to understand from our perspective. How we react is a testament to what we are holding inside – clarity or chaos. When we hold clarity we know nothing’s really about us and don’t take things personally. This frees us up to focus on what we want and need. Here we’re taking the lead and creating from a place of power.

Challenge your beliefs

Do it like your life depends on it, because it does.

Your beliefs about yourself fuse the reality that you experience. If you want to be in control of your life, understand where your beliefs pull you off course. When you want to manifest your biggest dreams and desires, you’ve got to fully believe you can do it. Where there’s fear or doubt, there’s resistance. And resistance doesn’t manifest your dreams.

Believe that you can be the main character in your life and create manifestations beyond your wildest imagination.

If that thought just brought you a feeling of anything other than pure joy and excitement, there’s some belief you are holding that’s carrying resistance.

Your job is to find and challenge that belief so that there is zero resistance between you and the life you want to have. It’ll manifest easily and seemingly effortlessly. But your beliefs (as well as your feelings, thoughts, words, and actions) have to be aligned if you want to drive the bus here, otherwise your subconscious (aka beliefs) will do it for you.

Trust the process

This is the hardest step because most of us also have trust issues. We try and dig up the seed we just planted to see if it’s growing instead of trusting it will root and bloom. We trust that flowers will bloom and that children will grow, so why can’t we do this with our own lives and manifestations?

More often than not, we’ve been conditioned to believe that we can’t truly have what we want. We can’t be in control of our lives and that our fate is sealed.

But what if we were to adopt the belief that anything is possible? Made a decision to manifest something, committed fully, did all we knew how to do and surrendered everything else to the universe? What if we trusted that when we aligned and took action, held on to the essence of the desire and trusted it would show up?

This is how we take the lead. We trust the process of manifestation. We trust the process of growth and transformation. Release the timeframes. Feel into the new timelines. Play in the field of possibilities.

Remember, everything is created twice — first as a thought, then as a materialization. If you’re thinking you can’t take the lead in your life then you will experience that. The opposite is also true. But you have to believe it to see it. And that’s the trust you must build with yourself and the universe.

Taking the lead in your own life isn’t difficult, it just requires a different perspective than the one you may be used to. Please don’t expect changes to happen overnight though. This is a process of unlearning and relearning, and training yourself to show up differently. Take it at your own pace, and know that every bit of work you do is recognized and compounds.

Give yourself permission to give main character vibes. It’s your life, after all.
