Carrying the Weight of the Wound For Life

Oh the cosmic debauchery! And it’s NOT Mercury retrograde hitting the hardest right now, it’s Chiron.

Yup, the wounded healer is reopening the deepest core wound we carry. This retrograde lasts the rest of the year, so there’s a massive opportunity for acknowledging the pain that seems to make up the fiber of our being.

Chiron teaches us that we must live life despite the pain and the wound. He’s here to remind us that sometimes the wound will never heal. Sometimes it’ll be ripped open and left bleeding a thousand times. And that when it happens, we can still be soft, graceful, and compassionate. Regardless.

Our core wounding can cloud our entire life if we’re not acknowledging the truth of where we are. Maybe we’ve been trying to heal something that there will never be closure for. We can never get the full healing in these cases, as much as we’d like to. There’s still a part of the wound we often carry, whether we know it or not.

And what’s really so bad about carrying a wound that will never close?

There’s so much we judge about ourselves and our ability to create our “perfect lives”, but when can we get real and recognize that there may be a part of us that’s always in pain…and have that be ok?

Could it be possible to live your life knowing you carry a wound so deep it may never heal? How would that feel for you? Would it leave you feeling “less than’ or “broken” or somehow “incapable of healing”?

What would it take to carry a wound and its pain without letting it consume you? Could you find a perspective that was aligned with what you want, yet doesn’t crumble to the ground because the pain of the wound takes over?

How can you find the balance of living with the wound yet still living your life? How does that change you? What are you able to learn and teach others about how one carries the weight of pain?

Chiron was fluent in the language of pain.

He didn’t work to alchemize it, he learned the intricacies of it. He taught others how to be with their pain, knowing the wound would never close. The pain never hardened him despite its depth.

Personally, I think there’s no point in fighting it. Some of us were wounded at birth and will never have answers. Others are left with experiences they may not ever understand. Does this make us any less than anyone else on the healing path? No. It just gives us a different perspective.

We can teach others about the gentle softness that still lies beyond the pain. We can reach that place because we are willing to let the pain exist. Let the pain guide us to what we need to know, and take the lessons. We are able to honor the pain and make it sacred when we let it teach us. When we don’t let it steal our joy because we’re no longer playing the victim.

Chiron retrograde lasts until January 2nd, 2026. This cycle may be a doozy because we are clearing big energies that no longer align. The wound must be reopened to find what we’ve been unwilling to live with about ourselves. It’s deep work and not for the faint of heart.

If you’d like to get more insight and some healing directed at Chiron retrograde, I’m holding an ONLINE event on Thursday 8/7 at noon with astrologer Kris Konstantine. We’ll be talking about how Chiron is affecting us and going through a meditation/energy healing. Join us live or snag the recording. DM me for the link or check the comments!
