It takes 28 days to build a habit. In only three months, you can become unrecognizable if you truly want to. It takes dedication, but the results are always worth it. When you want it, you can make it happen.
People change only when they want to. Most of the time people don’t want to change because they are fine being stuck where they’re at. Some people want to change but are terrified to do so for fear of losing their identity. Others aren’t even aware that they have a choice.
But the people who do want to change, become completely unrecognizable from who they used to be — well, those people are the ones making a difference in the world.
Maybe they’ve experienced some sort of life crisis that forces them into changing. Perhaps a breakup makes them realize what their behaviors actually expressed. They may have had just enough of their own BS that they realize they have to change if they want life to get better.
Whatever the reason, the people who want to change do. Even if all the cards are stacked against them with family and friends being unsupportive or nonbelievers, they take the risk and do it. Sometimes it’s night and day — they change overnight and literally wake up as a different person.
For most however, it’s a gradual shift. After all, we can’t go from one to one hundred immediately, but we can go from one to two, two to three, and so on. And that’s how we can anchor in the changes, especially the big ones, and not revert as often to our old ways.
If you want to become unrecognizable in only three months, here’s what you have to do.
First, you have to make the decision to change.
That first decision alerts the universe that you’re serious. It starts moving energies, opportunities, people, resources, ideas, inspiration, and more to support you. Once you make a decision, your energy starts to change. You feel more motivated, alert, and ready to look for signs that you’ve got help along the way.
You see, the energy of that decision is extremely powerful. Once you focus your mind on something, the subconscious gets right to work instructing your cells to act differently. You feel different. Start showing up in your life a little more as who you’d like to be and watch what happens. That one decision sends you on a path to manifestation — unless you let your old beliefs creep back in.
Which leads to the second step: commit.
Make the decision about what you want, then make the commitment to yourself to go and make it happen. NO MATTER WHAT. It’s the no matter what energy that really supercharges your ability to make changes. It means that no matter how hard things get, you’re in it for the long haul.
This is what helps make you unrecognizable. Your commitment to being better than who you once were. People don’t know this version of you and will inevitably try to coerce you back into who you were, especially if they’re uncomfortable with who you have become. This is a test to your commitment to your decision, and trust me, you will be tested many, many times.
Next, you have to conquer your old limiting beliefs and replace them with ones that support your growth.
If you believe you can’t change, then you won’t. And if you don’t resonate with your new beliefs, they won’t stick. So how do you replace your old beliefs with something new?
You have to start noticing your thoughts. What you think on a constant basis will become what you believe. Check in with your thoughts. What do you think over and over and over? Whatever it is is a good indication of what you believe. Ask yourself, “Does this thought help construct or destroy?” If it’s destructive, what would you rather believe? Work to make that your reality.

As you do this, you also have to heal your past.
This is the part that most people avoid like the plague. It’s painful, it’s messy, and it’s highly unenjoyable. Yet it is the most necessary component of changing. If you don’t heal from what caused the patterns, you will continue to repeat them in different formats.
Healing doesn’t have to be done in isolation, and there are a multitude of resources that are available depending on what you want. The easiest way to start your healing journey is simply becoming aware of how you feel, and sitting with that feeling. Especially if it’s uncomfortable. Bonus points if it makes you squirm.
If you’re like most people and avoid feeling your feelings, here is a short meditation that can help you start noticing those messages your body is sending. Remember, emotion is simply “energy in motion”, and will move through fairly quickly if you allow yourself to feel into it when it’s happening. This keeps the energy from getting stuck in your body, either reinforcing or recreating the very pattern you may be working to release.
By no longer identifying with your past you become unrecognizable to those patterns. Everything in your life changes when you decide to change.
Last, you must be willing to give up your old life for your new life.
You can’t take the old you with you on the new journey. You can love them and remember them, but if they come with you, you will be repeating old patterns.
Along the way of you changing your beliefs, values, desires, and identity, you will start to vibrate at a different frequency. Just like a radio signal, that which is in alignment with that frequency will be delivered. You can’t expect to hear Country 92.5 FM if you’re tuned into MetalMania 102.3.
Giving up your old life also means letting go of people and experiences that pull you backwards. It requires new boundaries and communication. You have to fully accept that things will look and feel very different, and you have to be comfortable with that. Sure, fear might creep in, so may old patterns, but remember, you decided and committed to making these changes. Trust you’ll know how to get through the challenging times. These are only tests to see if you’re truly committed to change.
It’s not hard to make changes, we simply resist doing it because of fear of the unknown. However, when we fully decide and commit that we’re going to change, shifts can occur often and quickly. When you are fully ready to step onto the next level, trust that the universe will guide you there.
Keep trusting, healing, and reinforcing your commitment to your decision to change, and you can be unrecognizable within three months or less. You’ve got to want the change and the positive outcome from it more than you want the drama of your old life.
